As environmental protection and ecological civilization enter a new era, young researchers play a pivotal role in addressing global environmental challenges and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The European Chinese Association for Eco-Environment (ECAEE) is dedicated to fostering a platform for young Chinese scholars in Europe to collaborate and exchange ideas in environmental science. Our mission is to cultivate an open, diverse, and dynamic academic environment that inspires theoretical exploration, practical innovation, and interdisciplinary cooperation to tackle cutting-edge ecological and environmental issues. On August 19, 2025, ECAEE will host the 4th "Europe-China Eco-Environmental Forum for Young Scholars" at the Hairunailihua Hotel in Beijing, with online participation via Tencent Meeting. The forum brings together young faculty, Humboldt scholars, Marie Curie scholars, and postdoctoral researchers from Europe and the Middle East, focusing on water treatment, climate change mitigation, circular economy, and environmental health. Aligned with the SDGs, the forum explores innovative solutions across four key themes:
- Water Treatment and Recovery (SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation): Investigating advanced membrane technologies, desalination, urban water management, and micropollutant removal to promote sustainable water resource management and mitigate environmental impacts.
- Climate Change and Low-Carbon Solutions (SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy; SDG 13: Climate Action): Exploring low-carbon technologies, gas separation, and methane emission monitoring to support green energy transitions and climate change mitigation.
- Circular Economy and Sustainable Development (SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production): Focusing on battery recycling and fermentation-based resource recovery to advance resource efficiency and sustainability.
- New Pollutants and Environmental Health (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being): Addressing nanoplastics, antibiotic resistance, PFAS, pesticide degradation, and biodiversity conservation to foster healthy ecosystems and environmental well-being.
Through this forum, we aim to facilitate interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration among global Chinese young scholars, contributing innovative solutions and practical pathways to achieve the SDGs and address pressing environmental challenges.
