Pu Yang, University of Oxford/University of College London

Assessment of Nationally Determined Contributions to Carbon Emission Reduction from An Economic Pers

Pu Yang is a Research Fellow at the UCL Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources, affiliated with the Centre for Net Zero Market Design within the Institute for Sustainable Resources. Her research supports the sustainable energy transition from economic and policy perspectives. Her work has been published in leading journals such as Nature Energy, One Earth, and Global Environmental Change, and has been widely cited in policy discussions and media outlets. Pu Yang has received several prestigious awards and scholarships from leading institutions including UCL, the China Scholarship Council (CSC), the Great Britain–China Centre (GBCC), and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), reflecting the significance and quality of her research. Prior to joining UCL, she held research positions at the University of Oxford and the University of Exeter, focusing on sustainable finance and climate-compatible growth in low- and middle-income countries.Communications, Nature Sustainability, Regional Studies, Economic Systems Research, and Energy Economics, international conferences and committee invites. He received positive feedbacks from main leaders of Chinese central government and letters of commendation from Ministry of Commerce of China. His written evidence on net zero emissions and trade was accepted by the UK Parliament.

Heran Zheng, University of College London

Sutainable Production and Consumption: Data, Method, and Applications

Heran Zheng is an Associate Professor at the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, University College London (UCL), and Co-Director of the Infrastructure Investment and Finance (IIF) course. He is a member of the Clean Energy and Low-Carbon Transition Expert Group at the Bartlett, UCL. His main research interests include the construction of global supply-chain databases, sustainable production and consumption, and sustainable infrastructure transitions. He has published more than 90 papers in leading journals such as Nature Climate Change, Nature Cities, Nature Sustainability, PNAS, and Global Environmental Change, with an H-index of 40. He serves as a reviewer for journals including Nature, Nature Climate Change, and Nature Sustainability. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (UK), Co-Chair of the EEIO section of the International Society for Industrial Ecology, and a member of the OECD Expert Advisory Group for the Input-Output Methodology Manual. He also serves as an energy economics expert for the Asian Development Bank and as a visiting project researcher at the University of International Business and Economics. He is listed in the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists and received the Environmental Research Letters Top Cited Paper Award. He is an editor for Communications in Earth and Environment, Energy and Climate Management, and Carbon Footprint.

Yao Li, École Polytechnique Paris

Research on Urban Flooding Modeling and Application Based on Multimodal Data

Yao Li holds a PhD in Earth Observation and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at ENPC, IP Paris, France. She received her BSc in Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning from Shihezi University (2017), her MSc in Geographic Information Science from Hangzhou Normal University (2020), and her PhD from the University of Twente, the Netherlands (2025). Her research focuses on urban flood modelling and risk assessment, nature-based solutions for climate adaptation, and the simulation and impacts of climate extremes. She has contributed to several EU-funded projects, including GreenStorm, and has published in journals such as Sustainable Cities and Society, International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation, and Journal of Environmental Management. Her current work integrates Earth observation, physical modelling, and data-driven approaches to support urban climate resilience and sustainable development.

Minmin Pan, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research-UFZ

Harnessing Phototrophic Microbial Consortia for Sustainable Energy and Material Cycle

 Dr. Minmin Pan, Environmental Microbiology Ph.D., is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), Germany. He earned his doctorate from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).His research portfolio covers photosynthetic microbial community engineering, microbial multi-omics analysis, and photosynthetic microbe-enabled pollutant treatment and resource utilization.He has led and core-participated in projects funded by EU Horizon 2020, the Danish Research Council, and the Saxon State Parliament, Germany.His work appears in journals such as Environmental Science & Technology and Water Research. 

Xingzhen Liu, Ghent University

Application of UAV Remote Sensing and Deep Learning Technology in Aquatic Ecosystem Monitoring

Dr. Xingzhen Liu, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Ghent University’s Department of Animal and Aquatic Sciences, earned his Doctor of Engineering degree from the same institution. Advised by Prof. Patrick Sorgeloos—recipient of China's "Friendship Award" and President of the World Aquaculture Society—his work centers on multi-scale remote sensing, AI-powered image recognition, and optical sensor development. His research applies to marine fisheries remote sensing, freshwater ecosystem monitoring, aquaculture optimization, and intelligent fishery engineering equipment.

Tianlong JiaKarlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany

Watershed Runoff Forecasting in Data Deficient Areas Based on Semi Supervised Deep Learning Method

Tianlong Jia, Ph.D. in Computer science and environmental engineering, currently holds a postdoctoral position at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Obtained bachelor's (Harbin Engineering University - Hydraulic Engineering), master's (Huazhong University of Science and Technology - Hydraulic Engineering), and doctoral (Delft University of Technology - Computer Science and Environmental Science) degrees in 2017, 2020, and 2025, respectively. My current research focuses on the application of artificial intelligence in water resources management and environmental monitoring, including (catchment-scale) flood forecasting, rainfall–runoff modeling, and floating litter monitoring. I have hosted several projects e.g.,  the project funded by National Key Laboratory Open Research Funds. I have participated in several research projects, e.g., the project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). I have published 12 peer-reviewed journal articles in journals including Water Research. I am currently serving as a Young Editorial Board Member of Energy & Environment Nexus and as a Guest Editor for a Special Issue of Remote Sensing. Yang Yue, Movatype Biomaterials, Switzerland

The Application of in Vitro Toxicity Studies in the Drug Development

Dr. Yang Yue is responsible for preclinical drug safety research at a pharmaceutical company. His research areas include environmental toxicology, human toxicology, and public health, with a focus on the basic research and application of in vitro toxicology. He studoed biology from China Agricultural University and Tsinghua University. He earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag). He then focused on air pollution, bioaerosols, and public health at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa).

Chunxia Jiang, University of Surrey

Farming Practice–Driven Antibiotic Resistance Dissemination Risk

 Dr. Chunxia Jiang, Ph.D. in Ecology, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Surrey and an Assistant Researcher at Wuhan Botanical Garden, CAS. She received her M.Sc. from Hainan University (2019) and Ph.D. from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2023).

Her research focuses on environmental antibiotic resistance gene risks, bacterial resistance evolution and transfer, and microbial ecological modeling. She leads an NSFC Young Scientists Fund project and participates in several national and provincial research programs.

Dr. Jiang is an Early Career Editor for Biocontaminants and Biodegradation and a Review Editor for Environmental Research and Frontiers in Microbiology. Her first-author work is published in journals including Water Research and Environmental Microbiome.

Long Yang, University of Oxford

Phosphate-enabled Mechanochemical PFAS Destruction for Fluoride Reuse

Long Yang received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Göttingen, Germany, in September 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Lutz Ackermann. From April 2022 to January 2026, he has been conducting postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford, UK, with Prof. Véronique Gouverneur. His main research interests focus on organic electrosynthesis, organofluorine chemistry, and the degradation and recycling of PFAS. He has published multiple papers in internationally renowned journals, including 11 as first author or co–first author, with representative works published in Nature (1), Angewandte Chemie International Edition (3), and Chemical Science (2). He has also filed one UK patent, which has been licensed for industrial application. In 2022, he was awarded the EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Xiaoyu Tan, KU Leuven, Belgium

Engineering High-Performance Membranes from Porous Materials

Dr. Ir. Xiaoyu Tan is currently an FWO Postdoctoral Fellow at KU Leuven, Belgium, specializing in the development and application of next-generation high-performance membranes for gas separations. He holds a B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry from Dalian University of Technology, an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and a Ph.D. in Bioscience Engineering from KU Leuven. He also brings industrial R&D experience from the leading companies, including SABIC and Aramco. His research has been published in top journals, including Science, Advanced Materials, Angewandte Chemie, and Advanced Functional Materials. He has received multiple honors, such as the Best Paper Award and PhD Award from the European Membrane Society, as well as the CSC Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad (Top Category). He currently serves as a Youth Editor for Chinese Chemical Letters and is dedicated to advancing sustainable separation technologies for energy and environmental applications.

Zhao Li, RWTH Aachen University

Microfiltration of Microalgae Biomolecules

 A PhD Candidate at the Biofilm Engineering Group, Institute of Environmental Engineering (ISA), RWTH Aachen University, Germany. Their research focuses on regulating organic carbon migration in RO membrane-based wastewater reclamation, with expertise in advanced membrane process development and biofilm dynamic monitoring—key contributions to optimizing water recycling systems.They hold an MSc in Civil Engineering (Water Resource Management and Reclamation) from RWTH Aachen University. Their first-author paper in Desalination systematically revealed how DOC leaching from commercial RO membranes affects organic pollutant rejection, providing critical insights for membrane system optimization.
