Successful convening of 3rd thematic forum

     Watershed security and carbon neutrality are key to green and sustainable development, with strong interdisciplinary and international cooperation. In order to enhance academic communication, deepen interdisciplinary collaboration, and promote cooperation on cutting-edge ecological and environmental issues in the new era, the "3rd European Chinese Young Scholars Forum on Ecology and Environment - Watershed Governance & Carbon Neutrality" was successfully held online and offline on December 7th, organized by the European Chinese Association for Ecology and Environment (ECAEE) in collaboration with the School of Resources and Environment, Nanchang University. 

      Dean Lei Shi from the School of Resources and Environment, Nanchang University, and Prof. Yuansong  Wei from the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered speeches at the forum. The conference invited professors, young teachers, Alexander von Humboldt scholars, Marie Curie scholars, and other scholars from renowned universities and research institutions such as the University of Cambridge, University College London, Eawag Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology, and more. A total of 20 scholars from 9 countries and 14 internationally renowned ecological and environmental research institutions shared their achievements and explored collaborations. 

   The forum closely focused on the prominent issues of watershed security and carbon neutrality, and was divided into the following four themes:

  (1) Climate Change and Green Solutions;

  (2) Green Ecology and Carbon Neutrality;

  (3) Water Treatment and Resource Utilization;

  (4) Identification and Management of Emerging Pollutants;

  The offline venue for this forum was the School of Resources and Environment, Nanchang University, attracting more than 15,000 online participants. The forum received strong support from institutions such as the Beijing Society of Ecological Restoration, the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Aquatic Chemistry, the State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resource and Environment, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Alumni Association in Europe, and the Chinese Association of Marie Curie Scholars. It also received support from renowned environmental journals such as Water & Ecology, Fundamental Research, Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering, Science of the Total Environment, and Chinese Chemical Letters.
